KinkyAmour: the erotic fashion boutique redefining sensual style

You know those luxury shops you see on television, where the customer feels special, the assistant looks after her without ever being pushy, and she picks exactly the right piece for her wardrobe out of a rail of gorgeous things?

Kseniia and Martin, founders of the luxury boutique KinkyAmour, are setting out to create a space like that for women and men alike — stocked with beautiful lingerie, accessories and all sorts of erotic finds. So we asked them how much planning and hard work sits behind it, and what still lies ahead.

How long has KinkyAmour been around, and where did the idea for a boutique like this come from?

The idea of opening KinkyAmour here in the Czech Republic came to us — we are a young couple — out of our own experience with the fairly limited, repetitive and not always high-quality range in traditional sex shops and erotic lingerie stores. We would rather not call our shop a sex shop, but we do not see ourselves as a classic lingerie boutique either. KinkyAmour is something more: it is the hidden desire in all of us, the desire to be a little bit “kinky” now and then — that lovely quality, that urge to play — and, of course, the most fundamental desire of human existence and the point of life itself: the desire for love. Hence Amour.

We think — and from personal experience we can only confirm — that erotic lingerie and accessories can play an important part in a healthy sex life between partners. When people feel sexy and attractive, they can feel more confident, and that will certainly show in their relationship, in their life as a whole, and it leads to better, or entirely new, sexual experiences.

What is more, buying and wearing sexy lingerie can add a new dimension to a couple’s sex life. It can be fun and exciting for both partners and can help bring their sex life back to life. When partners make an effort to be attractive to each other and take care of how they look, it can be read as an act of love and care for the other person.

There is a great deal of interest in erotic fashion and adult products at the moment. We see a positive trend towards greater openness in society around sex education and emancipation, and that opens up room for new markets and new businesses in the erotic sector. So we saw a real opportunity in opening a boutique offering quality, modern erotic clothing and accessories. The other reason is the personal experience and interest in eroticism and sex life we mentioned. Doing business in a field that genuinely interests you can pay off financially, but it can also bring personal satisfaction and fulfilment. If it did not, it would make no sense to us.

Were the early days hard? Did anything surprise you?

Every beginning is hard, and we are still very much at the beginning. Our online shop has only been running for two months. We are still in something of a test mode, working out what people like and which products we could bring to the market here. But we go by the rule that nothing worth having comes easily. We believe KinkyAmour will find its customers and its supporters of quality, innovative erotic fashion and accessories. The one surprise — though we half expected it — was discovering that not every brand actually delivers the quality it advertises.

Do women tend to shop with you themselves, or is it men buying for women?

So far it is mostly men buying for their partners, which was also a bit of a surprise for us. A pleasant one, though. We love that men are discovering the appeal of erotic lingerie and sexy accessories, and that they are using them as an imaginative way of showing their partners they love them and want the relationship to go deeper and stay interesting. We do believe their partners will find their way to us soon enough and start surprising them in return. Incidentally, we are about to add some sexy menswear to the range.

Do you focus on Czech makers, or can people buy pieces from abroad as well?

At the moment everything we stock comes from abroad: brands such as 0770 and Blasted Skin from Italy, Asche & Gold from Germany, the striking and very sexy BRACLI lingerie from Spain, and intimate cosmetics from HIGH ON LOVE, which comes from Canada. I would also like to mention the gorgeous collection of role-play costumes by the world-famous baed stories, where every woman will find the role she wants to play with her partner. We already have our eye on several interesting Czech and Slovak labels, though, and we plan to approach them.

If I am not sure what to choose, is there someone I can ask? Whether a particular piece will suit my figure, say?

For now you can absolutely send us a question through the chat on the site or by email. We are happy to advise, and we hope that before long you will meet us in our slightly different bricks-and-mortar shop, where we would like to give every client more personal attention and offer the private shopping concept that is already well established elsewhere in the world.

What sets you apart is your focus on luxury pieces. Is there something for me too, if I want to treat myself but payday is a long way off?

Of course there is. We do stock more expensive pieces, but with those it comes down to quality, uniqueness and design. A more expensive product usually has better quality than the cheaper alternatives. It may be made from better materials, designed to last longer, and it may have better features. If you are looking for something to last for years, investing in the pricier product can be a good decision.

Even so, the range includes plenty of affordable, good-quality products that make a great start in the world of passion that KinkyAmour wants to introduce you to. For someone just discovering that beautiful, varied world of eroticism, of endless and sometimes unbridled fantasy and everything lovely that goes with it, we would suggest starting with some intimate jewellery or a nice set of massage and lubricating oils and gels — you cannot go wrong with those, and you will not offend your other half.

If you do decide to explore, the important thing is to choose lingerie or an accessory that you like and that suits you, and that would make you or your partner happy. And remember: there is no right or wrong way to enjoy and explore your sexuality.

We definitely plan to offer products across a range of price brackets, so that every customer can choose according to their means.

You have a broad range: lingerie, role-play costumes, accessories and cosmetics. Can you say which products are your bestsellers?

So far the big favourite is lingerie by the Spanish brand BRACLI, which specialises in luxury lingerie collections designed to give the wearer comfort and support while also being elegant and sensual. Bracli made its name with innovative designs that use pearls and other elements — not only beautiful to look at, but offering pleasant, stimulating sensations too.

Do you plan to widen the range in future?

Yes, we will keep expanding, and what will matter to us is taking account of fashion trends, popular cuts and colours, the quality and price of the products on offer, and above all the opinions and demand of our
customers.

You are an e-shop at the moment — do you plan to open a physical store?

Definitely. We are already looking for the right premises. As we mentioned, we would like to bring the private shopping concept to the Czech market: an approach built around a pleasant, private setting where you can shop undisturbed and with personal service, so the whole experience is as good as it can be. You browse calmly and without time pressure, and the staff are on hand to answer questions, advise and recommend. We are also working on launching our online private shopping, which will give customers access to special offers, discounts and exclusive products.

Is there a milestone you would like to reach with KinkyAmour?

Sky is the limit 🙂 Plenty of happy customers, probably, and unflagging joy in what we do. There are more milestones and dreams than that, of course, and as Kseniia says, all dreams are real — so KinkyAmour definitely has things in store for you.
